MCCLELLANDTOWN – Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) announced the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) has awarded nearly $1.3 million to German Township to fund an addition to its municipal complex.
The addition is aimed at addressing the increasing demand for access to high-speed broadband. It will give residents a space to take part in telework, telelearning and telehealth, and provide opportunities to grow their digital literacy.
“For far too long, rural Pennsylvania has been left behind when it comes to high-speed internet access,” Grimm Krupa said. “So many facets of our life work under a false assumption that everyone has broadband available at home. While we still have a long way to go, this project will give folks in German Township a reliable internet connection for whatever their needs may be.”
The funding for this project comes from PBDA’s Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program. It’s available to community anchor institutions and units of local government for community projects to construct, acquire, or improve facilities that are, or will be, open to the public.
