Grimm Krupa Presents Citation to Family of Late Joseph Hardy
MCCLELLANDTOWN – Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) presented a Pennsylvania House of Representatives citation to the family of the late Joseph Hardy III. Hardy was a World War II veteran who went on to earn an engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He then cofounded what would become 84 Lumber, lauded as the world’s largest privately owned building materials supplier.

“The 51st Legislative District is still mourning the loss of Mr. Hardy,” Krupa said. “He left his mark across our area, from Nemacolin Resort to revitalizing downtown Uniontown and supporting organizations including the Boy Scouts of America, American Red Cross, United Way and Habitat for Humanity. Fayette County, southwestern Pennsylvania and the wider Commonwealth is better off because of Joseph Hardy’s work.”

Hardy is survived by his children Robin Hardy Freed, Katherine Hardy Drake, Paige Hardy Enriquez, and Joseph, Paul, Margaret, Taylor and J.J. Hardy; stepchildren Logan Williams, Lloyd Williams and Austin Hardy; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
