10/23/2024
UNIONTOWN – Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) announced today that East End United Community Center has been awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant of nearly $500,000 by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).

This is a competitive grant that provides federal funding to establish community learning centers that provide academic, artistic and cultural enrichment opportunities for students and their families. Centers must also offer students a broad array of activities that can complement their regular academic programs, including literacy and other educational services to their families.

“PDE received a record number of applicants for this grant,” Grimm Krupa said. “The fact that East End United Community Center has been selected goes to show how important it is to our community. Between the day care, educational programs, food assistance, and outreach efforts, East End is already doing great work. This funding will ensure they can help even more students and their families.”

PDE is administering 21st CCLC grants to three cohorts of awardees. Each grant award is for five consecutive years. Funding is contingent on the continued availability of funding from the federal government and satisfactory performance.
