MCCLELLANDTOWN – Reps. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) and Ryan Warner (R-Fayette) announced the Pennsylvania Department of Education has awarded an $85,000 grant to the Fayette County Career and Technical Institute (CTI). The funding is for updating or purchasing equipment used in approved career and technical education programs.

“There are certain jobs that require more training than simply listening to a teacher give a lecture,” Grimm Krupa said. “These are the kinds of programs Fayette County CTI offers. They offer high school students and adult learners alike the opportunity to learn skills in welding, masonry, agriculture and more in a safe environment to get real, hands-on experience.”

“There is a growing need for workers with these types of skills in our region, and this funding will help CTI continue its outstanding work to meet this need in Fayette County,” Warner said. “This is a great opportunity for both students and adult learners to pursue a rewarding career.”

More than 80 CTCs in Pennsylvania offer a combination of classes and hands-on learning in programs approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Thousands of students earn industry credentials or certifications for local jobs in high demand, so they graduate on a path for success.
